Duck Soup Coop Board of Directors Meeting June 15, 2009 |

Present: Donna Jones-Ilsley, Peggy James, Leo Kurylo, Tania Nezrick, Ruth Peterson, Mary Helen Polensky Absent: Patty Ruback Nezrick called the meeting to order at 7:34 pm. All present noted the stunningly clean board room. Work headed by Leo Kurylo resulted in cash registers being recycled, wood that could be used sorted and saved, scrap metal organized for recycling, a number of items gone to freecycle and two cash registers going to individuals beginning a business. OUTREACH COMMITTEE The Energy Fair will be August 7,8,9. Nezrick will send invitations to individuals to ask for people to work specific shifts. We will basically keep the same menu. A sandwich board will be made to set out in the parking lot near the road to give current information. The outreach committee is planning an Oktoberfest. A discussion of serving organic beers ensued. The idea was rejected because of the cost of license and liability. The music is always so good that more aggressive advertising was suggested. There was concern about a portable toilet being available. No action taken. The outreach committee will plan a cookies day and a Springamajig again as a part of their special celebrations. The potlucks will start in the fall. A garden walk with a progressive meal for members only was suggested and will be pursued. MANAGER The average sale in May per day was $2200. This is excellent for a month when students are mostly absent. June up to the point of the meeting was averaging $2100. James is very optimistic for another excellent year despite economic problems. James has been working half days to use up accumulated vacation. The excellent staff manages well under these conditions. James said Sunny Day is offering to bring in cookies for sale again. IT was suggested that we also ask for granola as that was a great seller when it was available. There has been no response from Heritage Farms. The April minutes were accepted by consensus. The next board meeting will be August 4 at 7 pm. The next outreach committee meeting will be July 7 at 6 pm at Patty Ruback ‘s home. The meeting adjourned at 8:43 pm. Ruth Peterson, Secretary |
