Absent by permission: Leo Kurylo, Patty Ruback
The meeting was called to order by Mary Helen Polensky. The minutes were approved by consensus. A member opinion was shared by James who had received the comment for the board.
MANAGER’S REPORT
James reported that the tax return was filed and there will be a small refund.
She reported that, as requested, she checked with the local Chamber of Commerce and it is not a member of the national organization.
The board affirmed the new food handling policy established by the manager after some people were noted to have gone into areas where open food is held and did not handle the food or close containers in appropriate ways. Therefore according to set policy, no one other than staff and officially sanctioned people will be able to go into the cooler and other open food areas.
The second quarter sales have been fairly good. In February most days showed sales of $2700 - $2800. March seems to be going fairly well also.
OLD BUSINESS
Nelson moved we leave the decision of chamber membership to the General Manager since she has a sense of the wishes of members to a greater extent than anyone else. Petruchius seconded the motion which passed unanimously.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
Montgomery staffed a DSC booth for the Kaneland Kindergarten Registration Health Fair. It was a positive experience with good exposure to people that school district serves.
James would like to prepare some healthy living curricula to offer to elementary schools. She was encouraged to proceed.
Petruchius suggested that DSC offer a program about healthy lifestyle at the soon-to-be-opened Sycamore facility for at-risk juveniles in Sycamore, The Safe House.
