Leo called meeting to
order at 6:51pm.
Amanda Montgomery, Mary
Helen Polensky, Cynthia Nelson, Leo Kurylo, Peggy James, and Patty
Ruback were
present, Ruth Peterson was absent.
Member, Mary Petruchius attended the meeting and expressed interest in
filling the vacant position on the board. Cynthia moved to have Mary
fill
vacancy on the board (a one year position), Amanda seconded and the
motion carried by consensus.
Peggy handed out a condensed Robert's Rules created by Ruth. She also
handed out the February 2010 issue of "Taste for Life," in which Duck
Soup
is featured on the back cover.
Peggy also presented financial statements and explained that we had a
$1,621 loss for the year. The Duck Soup did well in the 4th quarter
(made more
than budgeted). Leo needs to write a letter to Peggy for her
personnel file.
The idea of pursuing membership into the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce was
discussed. The first draft of proposed Standing Rules from the ad hoc
committee on standing rules (Mary Helen, Peggy James and Cynthia Nelson)
was handed out. Cynthia proposes that we look over them and discuss any
additions later.
There was a proposal for the board to approve having a Duck Soup
presence on at least one social networking site, Facebook. The motion
was seconded and carried by consensus.
The Outreach committee
participated in the Kaneland High School Wellness Fair, and sold food at
the Unitarian Universalist Church Winter Farmer's Market. We are
scheduled to attend a Kaneland Kindergarten Fair and the NIU Wellness
Fair in March. The "Spring-A-Ma-Jig"
is scheduled for May 15.
The "Standing Rules" ad hoc committee will continue working on the
"Standing Rules"
Leo adjourned meeting at 8:44pm and the next meeting is scheduled for
March 22nd at 6:30pm
