Duck Soup Coop Board of Directors Meeting November 12, 2009 |

Present: Peggy James, Cynthia Nelson, Tania Nezrick, Mary Helen Polensky, Patty Ruback, Donna Ilsley-Jones Absent: Leo Kurylo, Ruth Peterson
The meeting was called to order by Nezrick. .
Manager’s Report
James reported that as of the end of their first week back at the Coop, Sunny Day is doing nicely. The food is being sold on consignment; 2% to Duck Soup, 97% to Sunny Day, 1% for sales tax.
Sales have picked up, cash is building back up
We will be signing a new lease for the building; The lease will be extended to 5 yrs from now, the rent to be frozen at the current rate.
Peggy is working with a history student. He is writing a paper on the history of Duck Soup.
Outreach
We will be having Cookie Day. There will be baking and tasting at the GMM. Bring 3 dozen cookies and take home 3 dozen different cookies.
A Wellness Fair is scheduled for 11 Jan 2010 in Kaneland.
Other business
The General Member Meeting (GMM) will be 6 December 2009. The mailing will be done on 18 November at 6 pm; It will include a reminder to renew your membership, information about the bylaw change and a notice about the cookie swap. Tania & Patty are the two Board members whose terms are up this year.
Peggy let us know that the scholarship program funded 3 people for membership this year. There is still money in the fund.
There followed discussion about the Chamber of Commerce and Marketing of the Coop. Both will be further discussed at the GMM.
The next meeting of the board will be at 4 pm on December 6, immediately prior to the GMM.
