Duck Soup Coop Board of Directors Meeting January 11, 2010 |

Present: Peggy James, Amanda Montgomery, Cynthia Nelson, Leo Kurylo, Patty Ruback, Mary Helen Polensky and member Tania Nezrick, Donna Jones-Ilsley Absent: Ruth Peterson
The meeting was called to order. December minutes were approved.
MANAGER’S REPORT
Peggy reported that the Unitarian Universalists would like us to be a food vendor at their fair on Jan 31st. It will run from 10 – 4
Jen Calanca of Heritage Prairie Farms would like to come to our next board meeting to talk about Duck Soup being a CSA drop off point. Peggy sent her an e-mail asking for a proposal please.
Jesus Calendo is looking for a sponsor for a Park District soccer team. We would like more information
Question was raised, have we heard more about the Health Fair at Kaneland. Are we going?
It was noted that there is an article in the Coop Grocer about effective board meetings.
Membership fees are being collected. Peggy is working on year end projects and reports. She reports that sales have been decent. We have a small cushion again.
The cooler has been OK recently. There were only 2 weekends when Peggy and Larry have had to come and cycle it on.
OLD BUSINESS . We will bring the discussion of Chamber of Commerce membership to the Long Range Planning meeting. Leo talked to 3 people who seemed to be in favor of joining. Peggy will check the budget and will give us numbers to discuss
NEW BUSINESS
The Long Range Planning meeting will be on Jan 18th at 6 pm in Rice Hall. There will be chili, drinks, cornbread and anything else we bring. At the meeting, Mary Helen will present for discussion, Standing Rules and Traditions, Ruth to present Roberts Rules and Leo to present the Bylaws
Leo gave us an article to read about COOL, Country of Origin Labeling. This is information that needs to be accessible to the consumer.
The next Pot Luck will be the 1st weekend of February. 6 pm on Feb. 6th.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
The Outreach Committee will meet Feb 3rd at 6 pm at Patty’s house
