ABOUT MEMBERSHIP
Membership in Duck Soup Coop is open to any person/household that believes in and acts in accordance with
principles of consumer cooperation and who believes that they can use and support the services provided by the
organization.
Duck Soup Welcomes New Members!
To become an active member:
—Familiarize yourself with our storefront and our product lines.
—Ask questions of the staff, membership or General Manager.
—Sign-up for and attend an orientation session. At that session you will be given a thorough
introduction to the Coop, what we are about and what we have to offer.
—Pay a refundable equity share ($25.00) and an annual membership fee.
—Sign up for a work assignment if you decide on working member status.
Member Benefits
Member benefits are determined by the Board of Directors according to the bylaws of Duck Soup Coup.
Benefits are available only to active Duck Soup members. Active member status is determined by full
payment of a refundable equity share of twenty-five dollars ($25.00), annual payment of membership fees,
and, for working members, due maintenance of a work commitment.
All active members of Duck Soup are eligible to:
—vote at General Membership Meetings
—serve on a steering committee of the Board of Directors
—stand for election to the Board of Directors
—write checks at the time of purchase for up to $50.00 over the amount of purchase
—receive a discount on special order case lots (current discount is 20% over wholesale cost unless your
cost with working member discount is lower—should this be the case, the lowest of the two prices will
be applied)
—sell approved member-crafted items on consignment at the store
in addition to benefits extended to all active members:
Senior Citizen Members
(members 55 years of age and older)
will receive a 10% discount on purchases of discountable items on any Thursday
Non-working Members
(members who have no working obligation)
will receive a coupon book with 12 coupons redeemable for a 5% discount on total purchases (of discountable items)
on shopping days of their choice
Monthly Working Members
(members who contribute two hours of scheduled work time once every 4 week cycle, or the equivalent)
will receive a 5% discount on purchase of all discountable items on any shopping day
Weekly Working Members
(members who contribute two hours of scheduled work time every week, or the equivalent)
will receive a 20% discount on the purchase of all discountable items on any shopping day
