STANDING COMMITTEES OF THE BOARD The committees of the Board are appointed by the Directors at the first board meeting after the General Membership Meeting. A convener is selected by each committee. The convener is responsible for calling and conducting committee meetings and for reporting committee activities to the Board of Directors. Members of a committee study particular areas of cooperative endeavor, discuss issues and concerns with Duck Soup staff, and meet with outside consultants when indicated. The work of the Board is dependent on the particular expertise that is provided by committee members, and recommendations that originate in committees are taken very seriously by the Directors. Committee membership is open to all members. Any Duck Soup member interested in serving on a committee may request to be appointed. AD HOC COMMITTEES Ad hoc committees are special project committees created by the Board to study specific issues pertaining to the cooperative and its operation. An example is the ad hoc committee that was formed to plan for and organize facilitation of the store reset. Ad hoc committees are operational only for the duration of a given project. |
